Over the summer I was set a project which was to create a moodboard showing where I would like to be in five years time. The moodboard shows that in five years time I would like to undertake a career exploring different fields within the makeup and hair industry particularly a career in the fashion industry taking part in catwalks and magazine shoots for example or a career in the film industry working with special effects.
Over the summer we also had to pick two films and write a short summary explaining why the films were considered so iconic and whether the film caused a style movement we also had to consider what accessories or costumes made an impact on the film and take note of the hair and makeup designers who had taken part.
1961 Breakfast at Tiffany was one of the films I decided to research watching the film several times I was all able to realise that the iconic romance movie was a style movement making Audrey Hepburn who played the leading role a style icon and well known winning best actress. Audrey Hepburn ' character carrying an oversized cigarette holder with black gloves a diamond necklace and black Givenchy gown was considered the most iconic image of the 20th century .Neil Manley was hairstylist supervisor in the film and Wally West more was fashion designer and makeup supervisor they were both known for working in films such as 'Vertigo' and 'Bonanza' .
2013 The Great Gatsby was another film I decided to research the drama-romance film was based on the 1925 novel and was made so iconic due to the costume designs winning both awards in best production design and best costume design .The men's authentic looking suits were seen as well grounded whereas critics considered the woman's costumes to be slightly tight fitting in comparison to the era .The fashion designers involved in the movie were Prada, Catherine Martin who collaborated with the Brooks brothers designing men's suits and Tiffany and Co were involved in designing some prices of jewellery. Mac makeup also had some involvement. Catherine Martin and Muicca Prada were behind the wardrobe. Several hair and makeup artists such as Lara Birch and Catherine Biggs were involved in production.
